While Instagram Shopping allows you to tap on a shopping post and learn more about products, checkout on Instagram takes it one step further enabling in-app purchasing. Instagram has opened checkout on Instagram as an opportunity for brands across all categories and will be placing a priority on brands with products in the beauty and fashion categories.
Here’s how it works:
- After discovering a checkout-enabled product in posts or stories, the option “checkout on Instagram” will appear when “Tap to view more details” is clicked
- To place an order directly in the Instagram app, the customer fills out contact, shipping and payment information
- Once an order is placed, the customer can view order status, estimated delivery date and tracking number, as well as cancel orders, initiate a return or request additional support from within the Instagram app
